About Sidney By The Sea Dental Clinic

Where preventative care leads the way

Sidney by the Sea Dental Clinic is a prevention-focused dental practice in Sidney, BC, built around one simple philosophy: long-term oral health begins with consistent hygiene care.

While we offer comprehensive dental services, our primary focus is dental hygiene and preventive dentistry. We believe routine teeth cleanings, early detection, and patient education are the foundation of lifelong oral health — and often reduce the need for larger treatment plans.

In a region where many dental offices are booking months out for routine hygiene appointments, we are intentionally structured to support preventive care. We also welcome referrals from surrounding dental providers who need a trusted Sidney dental clinic to support their patients with dental hygiene services.

We are a full-service practice — but we are not a high-pressure clinic. You will never feel rushed into decisions or pushed toward treatment you don’t understand.

Our goal is simple: keep your mouth healthy, comfortably and consistently.

Intentionally Small. Purposefully Personal.

From the moment you walk in, you'll notice this office moves at a different pace. There's no rushing, no assembly line.

This is not a large, fast-paced corporate environment. It’s a community-based clinic where patients are known by name and appointments aren’t treated like transactions.

For patients who carry anxiety into dental appointments — and most people carry at least a little — we've heard more than once that this is the first office where they actually felt relaxed.

Sidney by the Sea is intentionally small — just two treatment rooms — designed to feel quiet, calm, and private.

The clinic is fully wheelchair accessible, and we prioritize mobility-inclusive care. Patients who prefer to remain in their wheelchair can comfortably receive hygiene treatment without transferring to a dental chair.

Community Access Matters

Dr. Andrews is the only dentist in the area with a fully equipped mobile dental unit, allowing us to provide care in hospitals and long-term care facilities. For patients who cannot travel to a traditional clinic setting, we bring dental care to them. Community care is not a marketing line for us — it’s an active part of how we practice.

What to expect at your visit

We believe dental visits should feel calm, respectful, and thorough — never like a sales pitch.

Appointment Length

Teeth cleaning appointments are scheduled on our online scheduler for new patients at 90 minutes and returning patients at 70 minutes. After we have established a relationship with you, your appointment time may differ depending on your unique needs.

If it has been several years since your last dental visit, or if advanced periodontal (gum) care is recommended, your treatment may be completed over multiple visits to ensure it is thorough and comfortable.

If additional treatment beyond a routine cleaning is needed, we will clearly explain your options. The approximate length of any recommended treatment appointments will always be discussed with you at the time of booking, so you know exactly what to expect.

During Your Visit

Your appointment may include:

  • A comprehensive oral exam

  • Digital X-rays (if needed)

  • Gentle, thorough teeth cleaning

  • Gum health assessment

  • Personalized home care recommendations

If treatment is recommended beyond hygiene, we’ll explain your options clearly and answer all of your questions before proceeding.

Does dental hygiene hurt?

Most patients describe our cleanings as comfortable and gentle.

If you have sensitive teeth, dental anxiety, or haven’t been in a while — please let us know. We take extra care to work at your pace. Our goal is for you to leave feeling refreshed, not stressed.

Dental Insurance & Payment

  • We offer direct billing to most major insurance providers, including the Canadian Dental Care Plan

  • We provide estimates and pre-determinations.

  • We bill as per the provincial fee guide - not above.

  • Payment is due at the time of service for uninsured portions.

If you have questions about coverage? Call us — we’re happy to help.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that schedules change.
We kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule your appointment.

This allows us to offer that time to another patient in need.

If you have any concerns before your visit, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to make your experience as smooth and comfortable as possible.
